With over 30 years of experience and over 1,500 adults earning their high school diplomas, Southgate has earned the title, "Downriver's Center for Adult Education." 

SACE is a comprehensive, full service adult education program offering day, evening, and Saturday classes. Some of the highlights include:

  • High School Completion
  • Alternative Education, which we call the "Advantage Academy"
  • Adult Basic Education (A.B.E.)
  • G.E.D. prep and test program
  • Vocational classes
  • Computer and Technology programs
  • English as a Second language program (ESL)

Mission Statement of Southgate Adult and Community Education
Southgate Adult and Community Education is committed to preparing our unique and diverse student population to live and work successfully as self-directed, life-long learners in an ever-changing democratic and technological society.

We believe that....

  • everyone can learn.

  • learning is life-long.

  • behavior has consequences.

  • learning occurs best in a physically and emotionally safe environment.

  • each individual is unique and has inherent value. 

  • group efforts result in better decision making and greater commitment.
