HIGH SCHOOL COMPLETION
PROGRAM REGISTRATION
You must register for credit classes in person. You can contact the Adult
Education office (734-246-4633) for an appointment, or come and register
at the Asher School during the following times:

12:00 noon to 7:00 pm
January 22 to 24 (Tuesday through
Thursday)
January 28 through 31 (Monday
through Thursday)

Alternative & Adult Education
- Tuition is free to anyone 16 years or older (as of 9/1/07),
resident or non-resident, who would like to earn his/her diploma.
- Advantage Academy is available
for students 16-18 years of age on 9/1/07. Prior to registration,
a parent or guardian must accompany a student for an interview
with the Director or Social Worker. Call 734-246-4633 for an
appointment. The Advantage Academy is designed for those youths
who are seeking an alternative to their previous education
experience and feel committed to earning their diploma. Students
must choose a full-time schedule that suits individual needs.
Options include varied schedules: Monday-Friday, Monday-Thursday,
traditional school day, late morning start, or afternoon start.
- Adult Education Program is
available for students 18 years or older as of 9/1/07 interested
in high school completion. Students may choose a part-time or
full-time schedule, daytime or evening, based on each student’s
credit needs and availability.
- SACE reserves the right to accept
or deny admittance to the program.
- Limited seats may be available for
some classes because of pre-registration.

GED Certificate Holders
- Tuition
is free to any student who has a GED certificate who would like to
earn a high school diploma |

Class Dues
-
A non-refundable fee of $7 per course is
required at registration. A non-refundable fee of $30 is required
for GED Prep and Pre-GED classes. |
Please note:
High school students currently enrolled in traditional day school will not
be permitted to enroll in adult high school or alternative education.
GET THE CREDIT YOU DESERVE!
In addition to past credits earned in high school, credits may be granted
for the following:

work experience
-
military service
-
trade school courses
-
testing for credit (up
to 10 credits possible)
-
other approved
experiences
Non-traditional credits may
be applied after completion of residency requirements (2 credits). It is
strongly recommended to bring your high school transcripts and other
records when you enroll.
REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION
To qualify for a diploma, the candidate
must have earned 21 credits distributed as follows: 4 Units of English, 2
Units of Math, 2 Units of Science, 1˝ Units of Social Studies, 1 Unit of
American History, ˝ Unit of Government, ˝ Unit of Technology/Computers,
and 9 ˝ Units of Electives. A minimum of 2 credits* must be earned
at Southgate Adult Education, regardless of credit standing, to earn a
high school diploma. *Exception: First semester Advantage Academy
students must complete a full-time schedule.
